Rotary is a worldwide network of Community Volunteers. It’s an organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
There are over 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto “Service Above Self”, Rotary’s main objective is service: in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.
The "Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do" is a test used by Rotarians world-wide as a moral code for personal and business relationships.
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The Leonardtown Rotary Club was chartered on July 1, 1986 with twenty-five members. Our membership today is at the 31 member mark. Come and enjoy our programs with selected guest speakers in the cafeteria Atrium at St. Mary's Hospital, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. every Thursday.
In our 29 year history we have given more than $598,000 to local programs responding to community needs. In addition to the funds given to local needs, the individual members have given over $98,000 to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) providing international support for education, poverty mitigation, literacy, water and sanitation projects and Polio eradication. Additionally the Club has provided resources and management of international projects such as scholarships for underprivileged high-schoolers in New Delhi India, refurbished computers and a digital library in India as well as a safe drinking water project in Honduras and wells in Africa. We actively participate in the Youth Exchange Program, hosting and sending High School students around the world since 2001. And when it comes to young people in this community, this organization provides scholarships for four local high school graduates who receive $1000 a year while in college, and also provides $1,500 in grants for continuing education for two teachers. Club members believe this assistance to St. Mary's County students is an important cornerstone of our annual giving.
We also proudly sponsored an INTERACT club at Leonardtown High School and a ROTARACT Club at Saint Mary's College of MD.
